Martha Samora
VP of Ancillary Services
Martha Samora is the vice president of ancillary services for San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH), a 255-bed hospital in Bakersfield, Calif. Her oversight includes a broad spectrum of key hospital services including surgery, respiratory and physical therapy, The Wellness Center and SJCH’s in-house pharmacy. Samora holds a degree in nursing from Bakersfield College and Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Of the six administrators, Samora has been at SJCH the longest, starting in 1984 as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit and becoming manager of the department five years later. Prior to entering into her current role in 2006, Samora worked as the manager of risk and discharge planning, director of Quality Resource Management, and director for transition planning, where she coordinated a successful move into SJCH’s new patient tower.
Samora has enjoyed her time at SJCH throughout the last 25 years, but she is even more excited for what the future holds.
“This job has given me a chance to work with departments across the hospital and continue to build relationships with people who can help us continue to be successful in total-patient care,” Samora said. “Our staff has willingness and compassion to serve and be engaged with those we care for – each other, our patients, and our community.”
Samora and her husband of more than two decades, Frank, have three kids and three grandkids. Though Bakersfield will always be home, the Samoras love to travel across the country – especially to the beaches of Hawaii and the sand dunes of Idaho.
