Just as the skills and talents of our volunteers at San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) vary, so do the opportunities for service.
Volunteer opportunities at SJCH include:
- The Gift Gallery: The boutique-style gift shop at SJCH is always looking for volunteers who can help customers find that special item. Various shifts are available at the Gift Gallery and training is provided.
- General assistance: Volunteers also assist and direct visitors, help on the nursing floors, the Emergency Department, and Maternity Care Center.
- "No One Dies Alone" program: This volunteer duty allows a sacred opportunity for volunteers to give a gift from the heart as a companion to those alone in their dying. The goal is to provide a reassuring presence to dying patients, to give them what we would all want at the end of our lifetime: a dignified death.
- "Angels in the ER" program: By focusing on the Emergency Department, volunteers can help ease stressful situations that can arise from an ER visit, often the site of a patient’s first introduction to the hospital. The volunteers for this program will offer non-medical assistance to patients and their families, allowing ER staff to focus on patient care.
