Stroke Center
Overview
In 2008, San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) realized high-quality stroke care was lacking from our community. That’s why we decided to bring a Nationally Certified Stroke Center to Bakersfield, the first between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Though our Stroke Center is still young, it’s already left a lasting impact on thousands of lives in the San Joaquin Valley and been recognized by receiving the American Stroke Association's Gold Plus Award – the highest such honor for a stroke center.
Being a Nationally Certified Stroke Center means:
- Our 24/7 on-call Stroke Alert Team is always ready.
- Diagnosis within minutes with Bakersfield’s only hospital-based 64-slice CT scanner.
- The latest life-saving technology, including our advanced digital cath lab suites and Penumbra System.
- Comfortable and safe recovery in our stroke unit.
- Assistance and advice from expert caregivers, including RNs and physical therapists.
If you’re having a stroke, immediately call 911 and ask the ambulance to take you to San Joaquin Community Hospital.
