The Chevron Fund

Over the last few years in Kern County, nearly half of all serious burns took place in homes or schools – the results of pure accidents. Unforeseeable and often unpreventable, the overwhelming majority of these burn victims are young children or adolescents.

Three-year-old Trina Headlee was seriously burned in kitchen accident. However, because of her immediate treatment at our facility, she is well on her way to recovery. At San Joaquin Community Hospital, our mission is centered on building our community today, so that together we can work toward a brighter tomorrow. That’s why we brought Bakersfield its first full treatment burn center. It’s a world-class center dedicated to you – and your children.

In an area as diverse as Bakersfield and its surrounding communities, we understand that complete insurance coverage is financially unattainable for some families. But at SJCH, we believe that financial circumstance should never be a barrier to a child receiving quality health care. At our hospital, it never will.

Funded with a generous initial contribution by Chevron, we’ve created The Chevron Fund to offset the costs for child burn victims whose families don’t have adequate health care resources to pay for initial and ongoing treatments. It’s an investment in the well-being of our children – and the future of our community.

Because of such generosity Trina’s future is bright.
