SJCH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to Host Reunion of Families and Caregivers
On Sunday, May 16, from 2-4 p.m., San Joaquin Community Hospital will celebrate the many success stories of our NICU unit for infants needing critical medical care as well as the unit's first year of operation.
What: It has been just over a year since San Joaquin Community Hospital (SJCH) became a comprehensive center for newborn care when it opened its nine-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) within the hospital’s award-winning Maternity Care Center. An NICU is an intensive care unit that is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of ill or premature infants. This marks the first reunion of NICU babies and caregivers to celebrate the accomplishments of these families and the caregivers here at SJCH, but it will become an annual event.
When: Sunday, May 16, 2010
2 - 4 p.m.
Where: San Joaquin Community Hospital
Medical Office Building Garden Level
1524 27th St.
Why: This is a celebration to honor the families and caregivers who have experienced the great benefits of having an intensive care facility for infants here at SJCH. The growth in Kern County’s population has increased the need for intensive care facilities for infants. The addition of SJCH’s NICU beds is a huge benefit to our community. The reunion will include a photographer for family portraits, games and food.
