Deborah Hankins RN, BSN, MAOM Vice President, Nursing
In today’s fast paced health care market you must be flexible, innovative, educated, an expert and experienced. I believe our nurses bring all of that to the healing care we provide to our patients, our physicians and each other. Through often-turbulent health care times, we at San Joaquin Community Hospital have a unique opportunity to shape and guide our profession to better meet the health needs of our community. When I first entered SJCH as a nursing student 20 years ago, I knew this place was different. In addition to the physical and mental nursing care that goes on in all health care institutions, I experienced a commitment to spiritual healing and saw it in action. SJCH truly is a special place where praying with patients is encouraged and the family-like caring atmosphere we have with employees is just one of the reasons we have so many long-time employees. Delivering patient care allows us to be the hands of Jesus Christ and gives us an opportunity to carry on His mission. I have not been disappointed here. Even through tough times, I have seen the leadership of our organization and our hospital make decisions because it was “the right thing to do” even when the decision was not the most popular. I remain devoted to the profession of nursing and am passionate about issues such as the RN shortage, declining reimbursements and current legislation that affect the future of nursing and health care. I look forward to working with staff in each area to put processes in place that support high quality care, and the retention and recruitment of nurses. My goal for all of the departments reporting to me is to provide excellent service to physicians, patients, staff and each other. Integrity, commitment, mission and our staff are the reasons I remain dedicated to Adventist Health and San Joaquin Community Hospital. |
